If you’ve watched any of our live kitchen play dates, you know that my time in the kitchen with the kids is anything but polished. We make a mess, the kids fight, and sometimes they end up not liking what we make.
That’s okay, though, because in the end they’re learning to cook.
Sometimes, cooking feels like a bit of lost art – but it’s absolutely something I want my kids to know and be comfortable with when they strike out on their own. Sometimes, that looks like a really fun dessert… and sometimes it’s just learning how to dress up your ramen.
Ramen was a staple for me during college and it’s still a nostalgic favorite. The kids love it, too – but sometimes you want something quick and a little different. That’s when this 5-Minute Pad Thai comes in clutch.
No, it’s not a true Pad Thai, but this dressed up ramen is delicious and easy enough that the kids can make it themselves. Teach them now, and this will be a dish that will get them through college!

- 1 pkg. chicken-flavored ramen with seasoning packet
- 2 Tbsp. chunky peanut butter
- 1 Tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tsp. sriracha
- Green onions, sliced, for topping
- Chopped peanuts, for topping
- Prepare noodles according to package directions.
- When cooked, drain most of the water off - leaving just a few tablespoons in the bottom.
- Stir in peanut butter, soy sauce and sriracha until peanut butter is melted and everything is well combined.
- Top with sliced green onions and chopped peanuts.
- Serve immediately.
