This quick-prep dinner uses just a few ingredients to make a dish packed with flavor. In about 5 minutes, you’ll have dinner prepped – the most time-consuming part is shredding an apple.

Let it simmer all day in the slow cooker or make it quickly in the instant pot – it’s perfect for any night!

Ingredients
- 2 lbs. chicken breasts
- 8 slices of bacon, raw
- 1 small granny smith apple, peeled and shredded
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 3 Tablespoons apple juice
In this recipe, apples and barbecue sauce come together to make a sweet-savory sauce that pairs perfectly with the bacon-wrapped chicken.
This is such a great recipe for apple season – but it would work with a lot of other fruits too! Diced cherries, peaches, or pears would all taste great.
Directions
- For the slow cooker: Wrap two slices of bacon around each chicken breast and place it in the bottom of the slow cooker. Mix together shredded apple, BBQ sauce, and apple juice and pour over top of the chicken. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- For the Instant Pot: Wrap two slices of bacon around each chicken breast and place it in the bottom of the instant pot. Mix together shredded apple, BBQ sauce, and apple juice and pour over top of the chicken. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes, then let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes before releasing remaining pressure.
Either way you cook this, it will be great. With the slow cooker, the sauce will thicken up during cooking. If you want a thicker sauce with the instant pot, after the chicken is cooked, remove it to a plate and whisk in little cornstarch and more barbecue sauce to the remaining liquid in the pot. Cook on sauté mode until it thickens.
